Link My Books connects your sales channels to Xero or QuickBooks and posts one summary per payout, so your bank deposit matches your books. It's popular with UK online sellers. But after its July 2026 price rise, and with an accounting subscription needed on top, many Stripe-based businesses are asking whether there's a simpler way.
Here are the main Link My Books alternatives for Stripe in 2026, and how to pick one.
What Link My Books does
Link My Books reads your payouts from each sales channel and creates a settlement invoice in Xero or QuickBooks for each one, showing sales, refunds, fees and tax for the period. The invoice total matches the money that lands in your bank, so reconciling is one match per payout.
You connect the channel read-only, set up how each type of sale and fee maps to your accounts and tax rates, and pick a start date.
Link My Books pricing in 2026
Link My Books prices by orders per month. Its UK Starter plan went from £29 to £36 a month on 1 July 2026; plan limits and features stayed the same. Higher plans cost more, and you also need Xero or QuickBooks. There's a 14-day free trial.
Why Stripe businesses look for an alternative
- Two subscriptions for one job. The connector and the accounting software are billed separately.
- Tax mapping is on you. If you sell to customers abroad, getting the VAT treatment right depends on how you set up the mappings.
- Stripe isn't a marketplace. Many Stripe users are service, SaaS or course businesses, where marketplace-style settlement summaries are more than they need.

AccLedger: Stripe reconciliation inside your accounts
AccLedger is UK accounting software with Stripe reconciliation built in, so there's no connector. A read-only Stripe App reads your payments, refunds, fees and payouts. Each month AccLedger shows:
- payments without an invoice, with the invoice prefilled for you to check — one per payment or one monthly summary per VAT treatment;
- refunds without a credit note;
- Stripe's fees against the fees you've booked from Stripe's tax invoice;
- payouts matched to your bank feed;
- the Stripe clearing account against your Stripe balance.
VAT is suggested per sale from the customer's country and what you sell — UK VAT, outside the scope of UK VAT, or reverse charge for business customers abroad. If you use Stripe Tax, AccLedger keeps the VAT Stripe charged. Your MTD VAT return is then filed to HMRC from the same app.
It costs £6 a month including VAT on top of an AccLedger plan, with a 30-day free trial. It covers Stripe; it doesn't connect Amazon or eBay.
A2X
A2X is the other big connector. It's priced in US dollars by channel and order volume, and Stripe isn't among the channels on its pricing page at the time of writing. See our A2X alternative guide.
Xero's Stripe feed
Fine for a small number of payments. At volume, line-by-line matching and fees on refunds make it slow.
Which should you choose?
- Selling on Amazon, eBay and Shopify, already happy on Xero: keep a connector like Link My Books.
- Mostly Stripe, want one bill and VAT filed from the same place: accounting software with Stripe built in.
- Just starting out: a clearing account and a monthly check — our guide to reconciling Stripe payouts shows how.
Try AccLedger with Stripe
AccLedger's Stripe integration reconciles Stripe to the penny and files VAT to HMRC.
