A2X is a well-known connector that turns sales-channel payouts into tidy summaries for Xero or QuickBooks. It's built for marketplaces and online shops — Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy and others. If your business takes most of its money through Stripe, though, A2X may not be the right fit, and you'll be paying for two products to do one job.
This guide covers what A2X does, what it costs in 2026, and the alternatives for UK businesses — including reconciling Stripe inside your accounting software, with no connector at all.
What A2X does
A2X reads each payout from a sales channel and posts a summary to your accounting software: sales, refunds, fees and VAT, grouped so the total matches the deposit in your bank. Your accountant then reconciles one summary per payout instead of hundreds of orders.
It's a connector, not accounting software. You still need Xero or QuickBooks underneath, and you still file VAT from there.
A2X pricing in 2026
A2X prices by channel and orders per month, in US dollars. Its multi-channel plans start at US$89 a month for up to 1,000 orders across two channels, rising to US$229 for 10,000 orders. A2X says prices increase from 14 November 2026. Single-channel plans cost less; check A2X's own pricing page for your channel.
Add your accounting subscription on top, and the monthly cost of "reconciled books" is often well over £50.
Does A2X work with Stripe?
At the time of writing, Stripe isn't one of the channels on A2X's pricing page — it lists Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, TikTok Shop and PayPal. If you're a SaaS business, consultancy, course creator or service business taking card payments through Stripe, that's usually the moment people start looking for an A2X alternative.
A2X alternatives for UK businesses
| Option | How it works | Best for | |---|---|---| | AccLedger | Accounting software with Stripe reconciliation built in (£6/month add-on incl. VAT) | Stripe-first UK businesses that want one app for books and VAT | | Link My Books | Connector that summarises channel payouts into Xero or QuickBooks | Multi-marketplace sellers already on Xero/QuickBooks | | Xero's own Stripe feed | Stripe as a bank account in Xero, matched line by line | Low volumes with simple VAT | | Spreadsheet + clearing account | Monthly export from Stripe, journals by hand | Very small volumes and a patient bookkeeper |
AccLedger
AccLedger is UK accounting software that does the reconciliation itself. A read-only Stripe App reads your payments, refunds, fees and payouts, and AccLedger shows what's missing from your books: payments without an invoice, refunds without a credit note, fees not booked, and payouts not yet in the bank. It prepares the missing invoices for you to check — one per payment or one monthly summary — and suggests the VAT for each sale from the customer's country. Your MTD VAT return is filed to HMRC from the same app.
It costs £6 a month including VAT on top of an AccLedger plan (sole traders from £7.50 a month, limited companies £10), with a 30-day free trial. It doesn't cover Amazon or eBay, so marketplace-heavy sellers may still want a connector.
Link My Books
Link My Books is A2X's closest like-for-like rival, also sending payout summaries to Xero or QuickBooks. It quotes UK plans in pounds — its UK Starter plan went from £29 to £36 a month on 1 July 2026 — and its own guides describe summarising Stripe settlements into Xero. You still need the accounting subscription as well. See our Link My Books alternative guide.
Xero's Stripe feed
Xero can add Stripe as a bank account and import transactions. It works for a handful of payments, but at volume you're matching line by line, and fees and VAT on overseas sales still need care.
How to choose
- Mostly Stripe, UK-based, want fewer subscriptions? Reconciliation built into your accounting software.
- Many marketplaces, already on Xero? A connector such as A2X or Link My Books.
- Fewer than 20 payments a month? A clearing account and a monthly check may be enough — see how to reconcile Stripe payouts.
Whichever you choose, check three things: that sales are recorded gross, that Stripe fees are booked from Stripe's tax invoice, and that the clearing account matches your Stripe balance at month end.
Try the Stripe-first alternative
AccLedger's Stripe integration connects read-only, reconciles each month to the penny and files your VAT to HMRC.

FAQs
What is the best A2X alternative in the UK? It depends on where you sell. For Stripe-first businesses, accounting software with Stripe reconciliation built in avoids a second subscription. For multi-marketplace sellers on Xero, Link My Books is the closest like-for-like option.
